Do You Feel Lucky?

*hack*

*cough* I've been under the weather lately. Hence, the lack of posts.

You know what I'd like? I'd like to get some desktop wallpaper that looks like the wallpaper that used to be in my grandmom's living room when I was a kid. That was some sweet wallpaper! Rose and eggshell in vertical striped sections, livened up by little paisleys and other decorative elements. You never see desktop wallpaper like that.

Conversely, I'd like to wallpaper my room with large-format shots of today's hot rap stars, movie celebrities and tabloid sluts. But can you imagine how hard it would be to get the sections of the photos to line up at that size? Have you ever tried to hang wallpaper? Wow, it's hard.

Okay, that's enough. I need to regain my strength.

Lol. I have hung wallpaper. Hanged wallpaper? Poor wallpaper. It's easier if you have fabric wallpaper. That also peels off a lot more easily, which is especially nice if you have to remove wallpaper before you hang wallpaper, because the scraping off of crappily-hung superglued-on wallpaper is really the worst part of wallpapering.

I used to have tights somewhat like your grandmom's wallpaper, it seems. I called them my "wallpaper tights." God, I loved those! I also had them with pale blue in place of the cream color. But mine had flowers instead of paisley. Vertical stripes and flowers, if you're having trouble visualizing all that.

As I suspected, WAY too much added to your blog here while I was away. I guess I'm glad I didn't ever get to the store to get that book I was planning to read. . .

See how much I know, we just put the new paper on on top of the old.

Or did I dream it? That was the funniest renovation I've ever participated in. I remember my brother gesturing emphatically to make a point, and *schwang!!* the screwdriver flew out of his hand and embedded itself in the drywall! Chris was like, "what the F dude?"

Only he didn't say "F". Well, technically he did say F, as the leadoff sound to the rest of the word.

Hmm. Yeah, I don't think I'd hire you guys for home repair. But hey, if you were just there, I'd use you. I'd direct things, I course. >:)

Did it really make a "schwang!!" sound when the screwdriver embedded itself in the drywall? It's such a sproingy sound effect for the object and the action.

It strikes me as odd that you would wallpaper a place yourself but hire a bunch of guys to paint. Painting is so much easier. And so much more fun!

Did you purposely time it so that your comment would post exactly 12 hours after mine, or is that just crazy coincidence?

I feel like I should wait the hour and 12 minutes from now, but no way.

Do you ever wonder if I'm someone else trying to sound like me who has taken over my life and is trying to placate you with lots of comments on your blog?

1. Not really. The "schwang!!" sound was more the inaccurate caption sound-effect inserted by my mental graphic-artist biographer, for that scene. 2. We painted the place too! 3. I noticed that too, but it was a total coincidence. 4. That's just silly!

Ohhh, and you were so close to matching the 11:49 time too!

Didn't you have someone else paint your current abode a couple of years ago, though? That's what I was talking about.

What was this place you were wallpapering and painting with your bros?
(pronounced "bross." Like that brit band.)

I can't even begin to describe the heartache. Missed by a minute!

The place I was "fixing up" with my bros was my sister and brother-in-law's house they bought.

Now, I'm sure I could form part of an able crew under expert direction, but I'm not the sort of guy who knows all the do-it-yourself tricks, to just do-it-myself. I mean, I'm a painter not a house-painter. I paint CANVAS, not walls!
