Of course it was a comedy. Like Clueless was a comedy. I'd maybe say "romantic comedy". It was a little weird, though, because Kirsten Dunst adds a lot of anxious tension to any character she plays. It kind of tenses up my stomach to think of watching that.
Nothing is classified as a melodrama anymore. That's like radio theater classification, grandpa.
