Most people who live in a fucking fantasy-world object when they get set straight. It's funny, because you'd think they would want to thank you! But no. They generally get all pissy about it, like you're the one wrong. Or once it's too plain for them to deny it anymore, they'll just shut up and fume. Or start crying.
But look, you can't let a lack of appreciation or gratitude stop you from trying to help people out. That's just the wrong way to go about it in life. You have to suck it up, sacrifice a little. You can't give up on trying to help these people less fortunate than you. Those of us blessed with sense, we have an obligation.
One day they'll be thankful. Not to your face, probably, but they can't not acknowledge it on the inside, at some point. "That guy...he was right." "He opened my eyes."
That's what makes it all worth it, in the end.
