I don't think hating something is necessarily a bad thing. Or maybe it's just that "I don't care" is far worse.
Maybe it's a question of the object. I find it charming when someone hates broccoli, less so when someone hates Jews.
That makes sense. The moral importance of hatred cannot exceed the moral importance of its object. Certainly, apathy in the face of atrocity is unconscionable. Whereas, broccoli in the face of atrocity is simply in bad taste.
