You know why the stern clean-cut fathers of fifties' sitcom kids were always soul-wringingly soliloquizing over the difficulty of teaching little junior to understand "the value of a dollar"? Because deep down, they knew - each of us is born knowing - there is no such thing. There is no such value.
Money is make-believe. It's a confidence trick, elevated to the status of societal foundation.
