I knew the tv show "Heroes" would suck. Everyone was saying how great it was, but I knew better. I wasn't going to waste my time getting all into some convoluted storyline that no one could imagine "oh my god, what do they possibly have in store for us and for these characters I love next?" Well of course you can't imagine it - that's because they don't have ANYTHING! They got NOTHING! They're making it up as they go, and sure enough soon enough the initial rush of inspiration flattens out and the suck comes home to roost.
WHICH IT HAS. Which all the previous yay-sayers are pretty much agreeing that it has. Well of course it has! They had a concept, but no story! Amateurs. Con artistes. No real idea in mind, just the pitch that hooks you in. Not an inkling as to where the story would then go.
Hey, pure high concept alone works fine, for a sitcom. But you can't go into a supposedly epic tale without a tale to tell. You can't dive in with a completely open end, just hoping to wing it to something decent by the time you get there! Come on! Did you have a story to tell or not?
The answer is, once again, "not." They hadn't a story. They had a cool mood, an atmosphere, and a heaping helping of "see how far that gets us."
Pretty far, as it turns out! Far enough to make sure the rubes who bought into it feel COMPLETELY jerked around. For shame.
Luckily, me, I didn't buy in. I feel bad for those who did, but I didn't. Because I knew it. I had that mess pegged from the git-go! Thank God I didn't waste any of my time on that show. It's true, I don't really have cable right now, but that's beside the point.
Hey, should I just repost this exact same post for "Lost" or what? I don't know if that one is still going, or if it ended with a bang or a whimper or what. I haven't really heard.
If anyone has any spoilers for either series, post 'em in the comments. Knock yourselves out.

But I still sympathize on behalf of all the less fortunate ones!
