You Call Yourself An Intellectual?

Don't!

Don't do it! That's a loaded term. People can't stand intellectuals! Call yourself something else.

I kind of gravitate towards "smarty-pants."

Thank you. Really. Just... thank you.

This has made my day.

I think you know why.

:-D

I prefer "all knowing" or "god of knowledge" myself.
Then again, I work with tenth graders.

I enjoyed this post. It is a loaded term. Sure, some people have it all, but most people who are gifted in some departments are lacking in others. I think a hard worker with a sense of fairness and some humility might be a lot easier to put up with than an intellectual with no humility whatsoever who uses the belief that she/he is above hard work to justify laziness. Then again, easier isn't always the most fun. Hmm. I guess isolating the qualities that could end up being the most bothersome would be a good start in any social or professional situation.

Okay, I haven't had enough coffee today and I didn't get much sleep last night..so if that didn't make any sense, please {insert puppy dog eyes} forgive me.

@Mel - I've some idea. Some indicator. A hunch, call it if you will.

@limom - when I was in tenth grade, I thought 17 was the coolest age ever. Then by the time I got there, I had bigger things to worry about.

@jill - I will forgive you, but are you certain you want my forgiveness? My absolution is given with an iron hand, and there can be no appeal, nor reprieve. But as you will: YOU HAVE BEEN FORGIVED.

Ditto on the insufficient coffee (yet). In fact, I've had none!
