I rarely laugh out loud. It's mostly a snort or chortle. If I do laugh out loud, I don't LOL, I usually say beer came out of my nose or something. That would be a lie also. I don't drink anymore. Beer I mean.
Even more incredulous is the people who ROFLMAO. I mean, they can’t really be writhing around on the ground in hysterics and typing at the same time can they?... unless they are using their web-enabled mobile phone, but even then, that can’t be easy, especially if your butt is falling off at the same time.
@limom - I hate it when beer comes out of my nose. I'd quit too, if that was anything like a frequent occurrence!

Dang. I actually got down onto the floor giggling to do that. And I had my finger positioned over the 'Enter' key to be able to post it as I was literally doing it! But I was still in the text window with my cursor, so it just went to a new line.
Anyway, my ass would still put the lie to the acronym, as you aptly point out. Many's the time someone has said "I laughed my ass off" to me only to have me hesitate a sec, crane my neck to see around behind them, and reply tentatively, "uh...no you didn't."
