I think it's kind of saying how, you know how people who come out with something outrageously offensive and then try to pull the satire card as if to say "well, it's satire"...? They're not really saying it's funny. They're just saying they didn't mean it - whatever ridiculous stance or statement their work appeared to take.
So, you know. I was kind of zeroing in on that aspect.
