Thought of the Day: a Hot One

Man, I love being able to walk to work in the morning. But in the dog days of summer, that sun really beats down! I think I'm going to need to invest in some kind of dude-suitable parasol, if I'm going to keep it up.

It's worth the investment. My carbon footprint is freaking enormous, something needs to be done.

I've been thinking about one of those umbrella hats.
Then again, maybe just a big hat.

I don't want hat-head when I get to work. Hats are all sweaty and constricted.

Maybe one of those wide conical Chinese field worker hats. I don't think those are tight at all. Would that be offensive? They're so damn practical-looking!

I'm damn sure not going to risk a sombrero.

How about a pith helmet like the postal dudes have?
I think those look proper and dandy.

OH NO.

I just read limom's comment. Shit! :)

Don't say I never do anything for you, man. That should keep you looking splendid and cool all summer.

@limom - I love the pith-helmet style, but again it's going to give me a band around the head, matted and a bit sweaty. No good!

@Veg - I would never say you never do anything for me! You're almost always doing something for me. Shoot. Things I can't even begin to describe.

In any case, thanks for the pic - it gives me a good idea of what that looks like. Still has the band! I need something without the forehead-encircling band, and a very wide shade area.

Maybe a special kite, that would hover between me and the sun. I will see if there's a patent.

I have no suggestions to make re: dude-suitable parasols (to be honest, all that came to mind is those caps that have beer cans and plastic tubes/straws attached.

BUT

If you do find an appropriate personal mobile shade that is non-head-banding, then you could further reduce your footprint o’ carbon by strapping one of these to your good self as you stroll along to work.

How great would it be for individuals to be able to power their devices through their own personal, portable windmill?

Wing considers modern life as a nomadic, independent experience with high-tech communication possibilities.

Man, I was only just saying the exact same thing yesterday to a friend. They said, “Mel, what is life?” And I said: “Life is a nomadic, independent experience with high-tech communication possibilities *sage nod of head*”.

Good luck with the hat/kite/whatever search Joe, it's not easy. Within minutes of wearing a hat I get a red line along my forehead that resembles a lobotomy scar.
