The Curious Gourmet #2

When you're making an omelette, or you're making scrambled eggs, you put a little milk in there with the eggs, right?

So what's wrong with a CORN FLAKES OMELETTE!!

Let's find out! Everybody make one at home, and then report the results in the comments.

We have cornflakes....we have eggs. But trying to get the husband to go for the corn-flake omelette is proving a bit difficult. I'll report back if I ever convince him. In fact I will take pictures! :-)

Actually, we add a little water.

:-)

Either way though, eggs are one of the very few things I won't eat. That's right -- even if your grandma made 'em.

Alice - that's the spirit! That's the can-do, gung-ho spirit of culinary adventurism!

Pearl - ew, Corn Flakes and water...? Ewwww.

Oh wait. I guess I should at least try it out!

EWWWWWW.

Although for context, I drink my milk WHOLE.

So, those of you who go in for skim, might not be such a leap. In terms of cold cereal enjoyment.

You can add anything to am omelette. I used to make them with leftover Chinese food, when I had it. Leftovers in general are excellent omelette foods! But really, my point here is that I don't think cornflakes would be that bad an idea. They don't have much flavor, right? If they get soggy, it won't change much, and if they stay crunchy, they add some crunch! I will totally try this and let you know.

Go Go Edana! This is what the Curious Gourmet is all about.

One time I totally made a spaghetti omelette. It would have been fine! It was leftover carbonara. It would have been fine, except a couple of things ended up defeating the purpose. First, hotting up the spaghetti beforehand would have defeated the purpose of an easy quick dish! But then, cold spaghetti in the middle of a hot omelette ended up defeating the purpose of eating it.

I mean, I ate it regardless. But it tasted like a penance.

Yeah, penance does taste like that. It's better to say the fifty Our Fathers and the twenty-five Hail Marys than to go with the food option.

Ran out of cornflakes. Used Rice Crispies. Tasty, tasty, tasty.

kourtney, goodness - Rice Krispies? Right on!

Now I may have to try that.

Ok, I really hope you're not pulling my leg here, because I just got back from the store and I picked up some Rice Krispies.

ahh, well, it's all in the preparation.

i'll tell ya a little secret though: i just bet a guy $1000 that using only the power of my mind, (and a little help from the interweb), that i could get someone, in California, to go to the store, and buy a breakfast cereal, made of rice, packaged in a blue box, just like the one i currently have in my pantry....AND I WON!!! so spank you very much!! =D

regardless, my friend, it's a win win. you get a delicious meal, and i get a trip to Vegas....(meet me there if you want to collect your share!)

k.

That sweet $1K is all yours, kourtney! I wouldn't feel right claiming a share, just buying one of my regular go-to breakfast cereals.

From what people tell me - watch out for Vegas! They set it up so that the house always wins!

Not all of the casinos, maybe - but definitely the ones still in business. So be wary and don't blow the whole grand in one spree!
