Troilus and Cressida?

Troilus and Cressida?

Castor and Pollux. Twins, I know! But what did they do?

They weren't the ones who were weaned from the teat of a wolf-bitch to go on and found Rome. That was Remus and Romulus.

Laurel and Hardy? Which one's Laurel, again?

Abbott and Costello. That's easy, Costello's the one always going Heyyyy, Abb-ott! Did you know that when they first tried to move the act to radio, because they had originally been stage performers (that wasn't why they tried to move the act), it was almost a total bust, because listeners couldn't tell the voices of the two men apart! As if "Who's On First" was not confusing enough. It was then that Costello began talking in that trademark affectedly high-pitched mincing tone.

True story! I found that one out when I went to Wikipedia to look up which one's Abbott.

Famous pairs, ladies and gentleman. Famous pairs.

I still have trouble processing the fact that Salt-N-Pepa is a trio. Spinderella is like the Zeppo Marx of hip hop.

That's pretty common, though, for rap groups featuring 2 MC's and one DJ. Very frequently the DJ plays the low-pro pro in the back, with the MCs getting most of the spots and the props - a pattern set as far back as Run DMC, where Run stands for Joseph "Run" Simmons and DMC stands for Devastating Mic Control, excuse me, for Darryl McDaniels. Late, lamented jam master Jason "Jam Master Jay" Mizell was front and center in publicity shots and of course in the band's iconic sound, but there can be no doubt that spotlight-wise, the lion's share of the glare went to Run and DMC.

Run-JMJ-DMC might have been viewed as too clunky a moniker. It starts to sounds like a rap law firm or something.

Separate issue: I never cared for the fact that Spin couldn't get in step with the naming convention rocked by the others. "Spinderella?" Salt and Pepa are bringing it real right down to the tablecloth in a set of shakers. Why's their DJ off in some kind of superhero-fairytale? Surely she could have come up with some kind of spice-, seasoning- or condiment-themed name!

Cinnamonerella cut it up one time...

... yeah, that coulda worked.

or because the "spin" was in reference to spinning the turntables, and what with salt and pepper going on the table, to keep the table theme going she could have been DJ Serviette.

I would have been satisfied with either Sinnamon or Spinnamon if necessary.

I like it. Spinnamon sounds like a megachill Jamaican dude. He'd totally own Inner Circle's Sweat (A La La La La Long).

Interesting point you make re: hip hop trios only referencing two of the members in their group name. It occurred to me this is in stark contrast to the RnB world à la Bell Biv Devoe, TLC etc where they all get shout-outs in the band name.

Thomson and Thompson!

And, oh yeah, Abraham and Bevan, though even most Aussies don't know about them.
