The War On Greed.

I don't know. Greed is a tough one. Honestly, we need to pick our fights. Trying to take on any common human trait and eliminate it, or declare it out of bounds...where's the usefulness? War not on the impossible.

Any trait that has a Smurf named after it is ineradicable.

It's like the war on sloths.

Right? :-)

I love this part of the Smurfs’ wiki entry…

Smurf economy

The Smurfs' community generally takes the form of a cooperative, sharing, and kind environment based on the principle that each Smurf has something he or she is good at, and thus contributes it to Smurf society as he or she can. In return, each Smurf appears to be given their necessities of life, from housing and clothes to food without using any money in exchange.

I can't remember what Greedy’s contribution is to the Village (or Vanity’s for that matter) but given there seems to be no Occupy (Smurfcupy?) movement going on there, I guess they have accepted the ineradicableness of it.

Greedy's the one in the chef hat! I think he cooks.

I think it's the presence of Jokey Smurf and his incendiary devices, his clear anarchist tendencies, that provides the credible threat that keeps the Papa Smurftriarchy in line.
