They couldn't write right?
I should fill those of you in. A couple years back or so, there was a writer's strike in Hollywood (well, it was nationwide but it was only for film, tv, and radio writers (RADIO writers?) radio writers). Anyway, many of you may have noticed that for that period of time, November 5, 2007 through February 12, 2008, I myself ceased blogging, in solidarity with the WGA (the rest of you don't worry, I just took those posts down for now for verisimilitude, they'll be back up next week).
So we're up to speed on the writer's strike, then? So here's my question: what did the writers do during the writers strike? They didn't write, they could write scripts or screenplays or teleplays or...radioplays...so what did they do? Did they not write at all?
But they could have written poetry, right?
I keep expecting this vast explosion of Hollywood Poetry that's just been working its way through the pipeline since the strike. The sweet and unexpected fruits of a bitter labor dispute! Well I for one have been expecting it!
And it never comes. What the hell were those bastards writing, if not poetry?

Or maybe they COMPOSED.
Actually, as a professional writer (albeit a different sort), I must say that it would be very difficult to tell whether we were on strike or not just by observing our daily behavior
I always looked at your more as your clear-eyed, fact-nosed journalist, more interested in giving the truth an even-handed shake than doling out witticisms.
True, your humor is always in evident but it is the dry, dry variety that makes us feel smart to spot.
