You know what you don't see in paintings a lot? The subject of the painting looking right at the viewer with a placid expression, and giving you the "thumbs up."
I wonder why that is? It sounds like it would be the sort of thing to go over well! Kind of ambiguous, kind of edgy? A bit of a taboo-buster, maybe? Nothing wrong with that! This is, after all, painting we are talking about. High Art.
Maybe this is just another of those cases where it falls to me to do it.
