Reality: The Debate's Over

You're all half right. The universe was real, but it isn't any more. The instant before God died (around the late 19th century), God's mind reflexively contracted, creating an infinitely compressed moment, within which a near eternity of happenstance unfolded at an infinite rate, picking up from where the stately measured pace of creation's plan left off.

This explains why the last couple hundred years have been so weird.

We're only experiencing it as the normal flow of time within reality because that's how we perceive things. But in fact, everything's happening almost at one instant, unfolding in a manic and undirected spasm as the last of God's synapses quit firing.

It'll all be over in a moment.
