I dislike the term "Poetry Slam." It sounds like it ought to be some sort of metaphysical Dennys Menu Item.

While I understand disliking the term as a whole, especially for what it's so often come to entail, there are simply some cases where the designation perfectly grasps the situation and properly drives it home.

I rather enjoy the slam of the flying tsunami cresting along the prufrock.
