How quickly did it take me to eat those dozen donuts I bought on Sunday?
Just had the last one. Which makes it Wednesday. That's some portion of 4 days. I don't know about you guys, but for me, that's like a new world's record for slow! I don't think I've ever had a dozen donuts last that long in my house, or in any house I ever had anything to do with.
I had a couple rules to guide me in this achievement, rules like: do not bite more than one donut simultaneously (no "stacking"). One 1 glass of milk. No refilling the milk just so you can go get more donuts. No more than two donuts touching the plate at once (actually, here "stacking" is allowed).
I have hope for this result that maybe I've demonstrated some gains in self-control, maybe I can add donuts back onto the shopping list as a staple. I've demonstrated control of myself, and respect for the donut.
Actually it was almost exactly 3 days + 1 hour. Ok, not 4 days - still a record, though.
SHOOT! Now I have to go to the grocery store!

But should I? Is it even fresh still?
That icing looked pretty tight. I bet it holds in the freshness, to some degree.
Now I have to go get cake.
I bought four creme eggs in a pack the other day to last the week and well...they didn't. The end.
My mother has always said this tendency of mine makes it seem like I lived through the Depression. I think it had more to do with watching Red Dawn a lot. No, that's not true, it started before that. But I'll bet it had to do with some Cold War disaster preparedness propaganda!
@The Vegetable Assassin - I can picture you as The Donut Assassin!
We've all lived through a depression or two. At least those folks in the Great one weren't so alone in theirs. Not that I'm denigrating their hardship - obviously theirs was way worse! But in mine, or in yours (or in Elliott's, or in the Vegetable Assassin's), we didn't have the whole country pitching in and pulling together in a real public-spirited way.
Or in The Vegetable Assassin's case, Canada.
At least, I know I didn't get that kind of support and pitch-in. If you guyses did, I'm jealous.
I don't ration, but I savor, knowing the staleness component. As we move into more humid times here in Florida, baked goods will start to mold in two days, so no reason to knowingly waste such goodness.
