Name That Tune #1!

These will be running every single week, without fail. This one I posted early, but future ones will be right on the dot, every Wednesday, 9AM post (Pacific Time).

I need to practise for a trivia night coming up. A message went around here about who would be best for our work team, and the first reply was "I suspect Mel might know some random shit".
Well, I'm going to leave the suspense on all day next time - I won't post the guesses until after 5. To give everybody time to get their answers in. And it's going to be first right answer, not first answer, so I'd say take your best crack!
I made the first one easy, but some of these are going to be hard. I expect some of them to go unanswered, even.
Aw man, that's right. The poll. I keep forgetting. I need to do something about that poll. I thought when I closed it, it'd be frozen in time! But it's not, it's like the votes are melting off of it - skewing what the true results really were.
It's a damn good thing I did that recap. There were 33 votes! And now there's what - 13 showing? Lame.
I'm going to have to replace the decaying poll with a permanent bitmap monument of the real results. That's kind of a medium-priority project, though.
I don't feel that these lyrics are an accurate translation of the song, to the point that I figured there must be more to the song than I knew and went and looked up the lyrics. But no, you seem to be doing the chorus. I don't see this meaning in the song. And just in case you're wondering, yes, I'm serious, and no, I don't know any backstory about the song (I don't see why that would be necessary). I agree she's shaking something, but I just thought it was her general "wiggle" a la Marilyn or Mae West, though modernized of course. She's the milkshake. There are several ways to interpret that, even if you want to go completely dirty.
I stand by that idea that her whole self is the milkshake, though it seems I'm clearly outnumbered in that take and I'm guessing she's probably said in interviews that she specifically meant breast-shaking.
I don't disagree in the slightest! It's only for paraphrase purposes that I would pick one particular and literal interpretation to the exclusion of all others. A double-entendre does present a dilemma: is the literal meaning the more surface/respectable sense? Or could one argue that the winking, smirking meaning is what is more "meant"?
In terms of pure either/or, I'd say that yours is the "main" meaning - the all-around stronger and better-supported interpretation. But I do think mine is definitely and deliberately implied within the song. For a lot of these, it's going to come down to picking one sense of a double-entendre to emphasize. I probably tend to go with whichever interp strikes me as providing the best clue - although really, it might be more accurate to say that I'm going with the first thing it brought to my mind.
Okay I guess. . . but I find it hard to find your implication in the song. Wouldn't you at least paraphrase using a singular term, at least? "My milkshake"---how does that translate to "I vigorously jiggle my mammary glands"? Do people call breasts "milks"? And then wouldn't it be "milkshakes" anyway? I guess a movement of both breasts could be deemed "a milkshake," but I don't think this is a term in general (or really any) use. If you tried to say that was a paraphrase for a paraphrase exercise or something, I don't think you'd get away with it. I know this is your own forum and stuff, but ahem, I'm being a stickler. Obviously it's not necessary, but being necessary isn't the point I'm trying to make. I don't really know the point I'm trying to make. . . oh, yes, I'm never going to be able to guess any of the songs I'm not over-familiar with if they so liberally paraphrased. When I play this game, I try as hard as I can to paraphrase exactly what the lyrics say in different words (I think I do, anyway). I try not to make interpretations that might be difficult for morons named blue to understand because they have totally different connotations about said words. For example, for this one I might have said:
"This sweet treat of mine lures every young male into the outdoor play area. Additionally, those males say my treat surpasses the one you offer. I'm able to offer my instruction [in this area], however that would require remuneration."
I was interpreting "milkshake" as the name of a particular dance, or perhaps "dance move", which is featured at a few key points of the video (although not tastelessly all throughout!).
I also see it as meaning more "the whole package," the whole person, all the attributes one has to offer - it means that too, in the song. Undeniably it does.
But for the clue, I just picked one interpretation and discarded all else. The interpretation I picked is very much right there for the picking! And I thought it made a good clue. I don't mean to diminish in any way all the rest of what the song can mean!

At any rate, if we go by the TRUE results of the poll, the prize would be winner's choice: Good Sense of Humor, or Magnesium.
